So I must share.

I was hanging out with the BEST four year old in the world (Mia) eating some popcorn and drinking hot cocoa this afternoon when she asked me what I had gotten my mommy for Christmas.

I said: “I did get my Mommy anything”
Mia: “Why Emmy…you have to get your Mommy a Christmas present!” (she said in utter disgust as if I had forgotten about my Christmas shopping)
Me: “Well Mia, I don’t celebrate Christmas with my Mommy…she isn’t here to celebrate with me. She is in heaven”
Mia: “Ohhhhh—–why???”
Me: “She got sick Mia……”
Mia: With her finger in the air as if she had just gotten the best idea on the planet “Lets draw her a picture Emmy because all Mommy’s need something at Christmas”
Me: (nearly in tears) says “Ok Mia…what do you want to draw”
Mia: “Well a picture of your Mommy of course. (here is the best line…and remember…she is four) Tell me what she was like Emmy”
Me: (again choking back the tears) “Well Mia…..she was tall. She had brown hair and laughed a lot and she usually wore flip flops in the summer time. She wore high heels all the time when I was little and in the mornings she would walk on the floor in the kitchen and wake me up with her clanking”
Mia: “Did she wear earrings all the time?”
Me: “Actually she did wear earrings all the time and most of the time they were danglie ones. And she had glasses too…”
Mia: “Were they striped glasses like your Emmy?”
Me: “No, they were red glasses because her favorite color was red”
Mia: “Did your mom wear crowns like a princess?”
Me: “No, but she wore necklaces like some princesses do….”

We proceeded to talk more about my Mom as she drew on the orange paper…I helped every once and awhile of course when she would get stuck on what to draw.

I was standing at the island in the kitchen watching her draw the best picture of my Mom I had ever seen. And I think it looks quite close to what she wore….and if you look really carefully you can see that Mom is wearing light purple leg warmers because she always wore quirky things like that! :)

You have to see.

Heidi - Em, this story totally had me in tears. Talk about a treasurable moment and picture. I hope that one is hanging on your fridge or framed… Your mom truly would have been proud. Mia delivered what seems like a true holiday blessing, miss you love. Thinking of you and your family always!

A fun fall afternoon (I know…it is way beyond fall..but I am behind on the blogging) the 3 girls, Mom and I headed out for a shoot. Mia is four, Kayla is two and Lela is three months and the best part (as you can see) is their matching knit outifts. I don’t know what you think, but a girl in a knit dress just makes me smile….especially a cute one!

We had a fun time playing in the leaves and building many, many, many leaf piles to jump in and throw on each other…

Kayla was trying to figure out what she was seeing when she looked at me through my camera lens…oooo the curiosity of a toddler.
Now…..for some fun IN the leaves…
Kayla was having some serious fun rolling aroundEvans-OCT08-073.jpg
After awhile you can see that Kayla got the hang of throwing the leaves on Mia…I guess that Mia is a pretty good teacher. The look on Mia’s face in this series is absolutely priceless…
Evans-OCT08-collage.jpgThis is another one of my faves too….they just sat down and Mia put her arm around Kayla and made her cuddle in close! How cute are they together…..I can’t wait until Lela grows up and all three of them can sit together……
Evans-OCT08-091.jpgAnd even Lela got tuckered out from watching her sisters play in the leaves…she fell asleep.

jaime - ah! the 3rd to last one is my fave too!! i love her arm around her looking so relaxed and casual – great light coming in from the trees too – wonderful capture!!

So for the past two years Aaron and I have settled with fake, bristly, lopsided, and ugly Christmas trees (not to mention the one we had that didn’t have the top triangle portion…we had a polygon tree that year) soooo, this year we went on the adventures with our good friends the Fredricksons to not only get a real Christmas tree, but chop it down too. The day couldn’t have been more perfect… early breakfast, snow falling from the sky and the trek out to find the perfect Balsam!

Nora was completely ammused by the part when they shake the trees to get all of the dead needles off…she was staring….
The journey out to the area of the Balsam’s….
The Fredricksons found their tree…
OOOOO—–it’s spiky—-Nora’s first feel of her Christmas tree
Annnd theeeenn we found ours……..TAAAAA DAAAAA…Aaron is cutting it down while the Fredricksons watch
And now we have to drag it back to the truck…
And here is the finished product. We love it!!

jaime - ohmy it looks cold out there!!! love the tree hunting and LOVE the new blog! you rock em!! :) :) :)

A few weeks back I had a great afternoon with the Ryan family at their beautiful home with their little girl Ava. Right from the start I could tell that Ava was ready for the camera; she was gigglie and had many outfits to choose from…it was fantastic! I wish that I would have taken a picture of her baby Uggs because they were the cutest things EVER!

We had a great afternoon trying to bear with the cold and playing with Ava. The Ryans are a great family with amazing smiles and warm personalities.

Just look at how beautiful their family is! Honestly…….perfect!

This one is my fave for the day! She looks so happy with Daddy.
And of course we had to go inside to get some all cuddled up with her blanket.

Some of you might recognize this dashing young family (or at least the hot momma in the photos). Katie is my trusty sidekick to all of my weddings; she keeps me on track, organized and makes sure that we pay enough attention to those adorable flower girls that all you brides pick to go along with your weddings. :)

Katie and her husband Eric are reaching their little girls one year birthday in December and they are planning the most rad birthday party ever (so…if you are around in Hudson on Saturday the….just kidding). Nora is absolutely perfect in every way and her smile gets me every time. I am still betting (and hoping) that she will get mom’s curly hair and dad’s red hair…but I guess we’ll see.

Check out how darn cute this little family is!

(oh–and I have to tell you that one of my knitting-genius-of-a-friend that goes by the name of Devin made this adorable little hat complete with a pink pom on top….shout out to those knitting ladies…holla……)

This one was one of those “I’m dreaming in the middle of a field, but if you have to take my picture I guess I will smile” looks….can’t you see it?

Check out those chompers!

This is by far my most favorite image yet this fall. The look on Eric’s face is priceless and you can tell that Nora is just ripping out as many strands of hair as possible!
