So I turned 30 in March! And we decided to celebrate on an island in the Carribbean, St. John! Have you been? It was stuuuuuuunning! :)
We hadn’t been anyplace with turquoise water before and both of us were amazed the minute we landed on the island. It was paradise. Pure paradise. We spent our days exploring, swimming, eating local fruit, and breathing in a pace that was much slower than back home! :) You’ve been on those kinds of vacations that fills your cup about 32 times over, eh!? :)
It was a goal of mine to completely unplug as much as possible. And it’s not because I don’t like anyone at home, but I just KNOW that I breathe deeper and enjoy moments more without a cell phone in my face or email within reach (I would argue that we ALL do). So, no phone, no iPad, no commuter! No Instagram, emails, Facebook, Etsy or twitter! It was glorious!!! :) I didn’t even know what time it was for most of the trip…we moved at the pace of what felt right. No distractions. I was able to be fully present! I read a book, I listened to the ocean waves, I deeply talk to my friends and husband, and we leisurely ate dinners…it was exactly what I needed and wanted to ring in this big birthday! :)
It was amazing how little I actually missed when I got home. :) I turned on my phone to find voicemails from friends and birthday messages sending me love. It was like a virtual welcoming committee, I loved it!! :) It seemed easier to ease into everyday life knowing that I was FULLY refreshed and FULLY filled from our adventures. Ya never, know…this might become habit for EVERY trip I take now!
Yay for islands and yay for birthdays! What a trip!!! :)
