She plowed through the door with eagerness and umph…..I was JUST as excited to see her as she was to see me! :) It has been, what seemed like, FOREVER! :) After the initial “how has your week been’s” came out, we started chatting about weddings…not just the “how are your brides” or “so excited about this….” type of thing, but the challenges and the triumphs of running a small business in the wedding industry!
You see, when Kate and I get together, we seem to bring out the “real” in one another…nothing fluffy or fake and nothing rehearsed or self-proclaimed….but real, deep, honest things. The things we’re afraid of, the things we want to see succeed, our failures, our struggles, or joyful moments, our excited brides and our challenging ones. We talk about those business moments that nobody else seems to want to admit….like the difficulty of balance and time management, and the struggles of social media! Or even the fact that sometimes our job is just plain hard and demanding and sometimes defeating. We help each other through those moments and we encourage one another.
And that is exactly how it went this past Saturday…full of life and encouragement and endless truth coming from each of us. There were a few times that I’d stop (usually in the middle of a sentence because I tend to do that) and think to myself about how amazing life would be if everyone could be this transparent with one another! Kate and I have a friendship that I am proud of. We have worked at it! And I will ALWAYS run to her with any sort of business advice or encouragement that I need….and I just *know* that she’d do the same! :)
I love you friend! :) Thanks for an abundance of encouragement and truth this weekend! :)
Oh—so……in December we got a LARRRRRRGE amount of big, fluffy, snowflakes…like 14 inches of it! :) I couldn’t help but think about photographing the beautiful winter wonderland…..a phone call IMMEDIATELY went to Kate and Sam asking if they could come over the next day for some photos. And that’s exactly what they did! :) And boy did we have fun…I mean, between Sam’s amazing plaid winter hat and Kate’s spunky giggle…it was quite an amazing afternoon, can’t you tell?! :)
