It’s one of those experiences that just leaves you feeling warm and accomplished! This weekend, we raised over $3.9 million dollars for Susan G Komen and breast cancer research! :) This is HUGE! We were supported by the community of survivors, believers and walkers in Arizona and it was an amazing weekend. We started out on Friday with 60+ miles of road in front of us and finished with sore feet, blistered toes, aching muscles but a BRIGHT spirit. We have made a stance with each footstep and we’ve made a change against this fight and it was amazing! :)
So many people ask me why I walk every year. The reality is that the fundraising is hard, the training is demanding, and this task sometimes seems insurmountable. But really, when you’ve lost a Mom and a special Auntie to this terrible thing called cancer, anything seems easier than that. My sore muscles heal and my feet will recover……but watching someone have to fight for their life and sometimes loose it, is a terrible and difficult thing. This walk is my way of giving back. It’s my way of responding to what has happened to me and shouting “IT’S NOT OVER!” There are so many more survival stories and stories of happiness that can be shared! :) The weekend is a life changing, community of men and women, decked out in head to toe pink and wearing some strange attire that will have a lasting impact on how you view the rest of your life! :) I am SO PROUD to walk every year and I will continue to do so until there is a world without Breast Cancer! :)
GO TEAM JIGGLIES! :) And yay for iPhone photos! :)
