Brooke and Jay :: Nicolette Island Pavilion wedding

A PERFECT Friday in October…these two were beyond amazing to be with for an entire day! :) Not only was their wedding party fabulous, the decor stunning and their families so happy…but Brooke and Jay were simply joyful all day! :) It was as if they had been waiting their entire life for a day to be married and start a life with their best friend!!! Their beautiful connection kept us smiling all day long! :)

I wish every weekend could be filled with Brooke’s and Jay’s! :)

OH—and a HUGE thank you to Ruffled, who fell just as much in love with Brooke and Jay as we did and featured their wedding last month! Wahoo! :)

January 10, 2012 : Announcements, Published!, Weddings

A double feature day! :)

WOW! :)

Last week I opened my mailbox to find a magazine from the UK with Kristine and Jon’s wedding featured in it and yesterday out comes the GORGEOUS WI Bride magazine out of my mailbox! HOLY MOLY!

You may remember Kristine and Jon’s wedding featured on Style Me Pretty a few months ago….I got an e-mail from a fabulous editor at the Wedding Ideas magazine, located in the UK. She was head-over-heals for the details and the feel of Jon and Kristine’s wedding day…she asked if they could feature it and I proceeded to have a mini-party for myself at my desk while the pugs loudly snored at my feet! :) THE UK!?!?! :) She did a BEAUFITUL 3-day page spread about their wedding with information from Kristine about her planning and decisions for the big day; it’s quite great! :) Now, I am only crossing my fingers and hoping that someone from the UK feels the need to fly me over there to photograph their gorgeous day, hint hint! :)

And yesterday, out comes WI BRIDE! I think it officially hits stands next week (the 15th) but if you can find it and please page through a few different areas that I’m thrilled about! :) There is a little re-cap of the 2011 awards (with my face beaming on page 6)….and there is also another fabulous real wedding feature on pages 30-31…but the thing that has had me quietly giddy for about 4 months now is the double page feature that Elizabeth Anne Weddings, Studio Fleurette, Dena Swenson, Cady Cheese, Monirose, Katie Mikels, Kirby Margaret and Feathered Designs worked on! :) This past June we dreamed up something fresh and exciting for us to photograph…..it included cheeses (some of WI finest), a gorgeous country-scape and a simple color palette. I will post more on this later this week, but for now your can be teased from the feature in this issue! :)

Feeling excited and blessed today! :)

December 21, 2011 : Announcements, Crafty Things, Published!

Meet the hedgehogs + a book feature and giveaway! YAY!

Last June (as in June of 2010) I was perusing the site of Crafty Planet and saw that there was a call for entries for their next book…they needed projects made out of one yard of fabric to feature of their upcoming book which was a sequel to One Yard Wonders (A book which I had lovingly made most of the projects in and was proudly displayed in my sewing room downstairs)! :) I knew that I just had to come up with something to try and see if my first ever pattern could be published in a book. So, later that night I sat down at my sewing machine and started cutting, sewing, cutting, sewing, ripping out and sewing some more. Out came the Bartholomew Bookends! :) WOO!

I quickly submitted the patterns and photos to Trish and Becca at Crafty Planet! And much to my surprise, they were going to be featured in the next book, coming out November of 2011! :) WAHOO! I did a happy dance around my kitchen and then proceeded to call my husband babbling with excitement (followed by a celebratory bowl of ice cream of course! :)

SO, now comes November of 2011 and look what appears at my doorstep; FABRIC BY FABRIC ONE YARD WONDERS! TAA DAAAAA! I have to say, that this book has some fabulous projects for the kids, your kitchen, yourself and your friends. It is CHALK FULL of idea for gifts and working at your sewing machine on a lazy December afternoon! :)

OH–and the best part, I am able to give away one copy of FABRIC BY FABRIC ONE YARD WONDERS (and you’ll also receive a few other goodies from my little collection of plush toys)! Isn’t that amazing!? And I just love to hear about handmade gifts that people give and since it’s the Christmas season, I would love to hear about anything handmade that you have received that just LOVED for Christmas! :) So, leave a comment below and tell me why you would just die to have the book or what your favorite handmade gift was! I’ll use random.org to select a winner on Monday December 26th (that should give you all enough time right?! :)

So, get on it, start dreaming about all the one-yard projects you can make and leave a comment below! :) Merry Christmas everyone! :)
